We are a unique facility with multiple skilled instructors, allowing us to offer a greater diversity of family martial arts & fitness training than other dojos. Our flagship Bujutsu (?Martial Way? in Japanese) program is a distinctive blend of Japanese, Chinese, Okinawan and Korean styles uniting key aspects of traditional and modern martial arts. We also offer specific training in Judo, Tai Chi, Fitness and Conditioning, Self-Defense, Boxing, Jiu Jitsu - BJJ, Yoga, Arnis, Kung Fu, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Hapkido & Isshin Ryu Karate.
Classes are well attended by local students & from nearby communities of Elgin, St Charles, Bartlett, Geneva, Gilberts, Pingree Grove, Batavia, W Dundee, Barrington, Hoffman Estates, Streamwood, Carpentersville, Hanover Park, W Chicago, Batavia, Plato Center, Huntley, Hampshire and more.

How long have you been in business?
South Elgin Budokan started in 2009 by our two co-founders, Thomas O'Shaughnessy and Joe Prignano. We moved to our current location in 2011 to be able to offer more classes and programs for our students.
What is your primary product or service?
Kids Martial Arts, Judo, Tai Chi and Boxing, are our main programs. We also offer Self-Defense, Adult Martial Arts, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Hapkido, Isshin Ryu Karate, Wing Chun, Fitness Training and Boot Camps,
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Our co-founders have been studying martial arts and boxing since they were young boys, each have had the love of martial arts for over 55 years.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are a professional full-time dojo where traditional and modern training meet. We own our facility so are here to stay. Due to the diverse training of our staff with over 200+ years of certified experience our programs are unique from one to the other. We offer a variety of youth, adult and family martial arts and fitness programs.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We currently have one location.

We're south of Rt 20, located near the southeast corner of Rt 31 (La Fox St) and Sundown in South Elgin. A Metra bus stop is conveniently located near our school.

Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
We have a full-time on sight business manager who wears many hats to help prospective and current students and staff get their best experience at the Budokan.

Mon & Fri 3p to 9p; Tue - Thu 9a - 9p; Sat 9a to 3p; Sun 9a to 12p.
